In today’s Happy Half Hour, Erin Chambers Smith and Troy Johnson along with producer Archana Ram share the top dining and drinking stories around town, like the opening of Pali Wine Co. in Little Italy and the upcoming launch of Hopsy, an app that will deliver growlers to your door.

We chat about chef Javier Plascencia’s take on why it’s so hard to open a modern Mexican restaurant in the U.S. and also share a recent Facebook comment that brings up the question, how does San Diego’s restaurant scene stack up against New York’s or San Francisco’s (and is that even a fair comparison)?

Then Nomad Donuts pastry chef Kristianna Zabala tells us all about the mega-popular North Park bakery, her experience as pastry chef at Mister A’s, and what it was like to take home the first place prize on The Cooking Channel competition series Sugar Showdown.
