Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition Returns

Turns out, you really can teach old dogs new tricks. Bear witness at the Imperial Beach Surf Dog Competition on August 10. Over 60 pooches are expected to hang eight in the 14th annual competition at Imperial Beach Pier—and it’s all for a good cause, as the event raises funds for San Diego Humane Society. Watch French bulldogs, golden retrievers (including San Diego’s own Turbo, pictured above), and more canines in four weight classes shred on their own or in tandem with their owner. It starts at 8:15 a.m. and wraps with an award ceremony at 2 p.m.
