'Cats' the Musical Pounces into San Diego Civic Theatre

Within a whisker of the film adaptation starring celebs like Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, and Idris Elba, Cats pounces into the San Diego Civic Theatre April 16–21.

Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the stage musical by superstar composer Andrew Lloyd Webber garnered seven Tony Awards when it debuted in 1982. The fantastic tale spans one evening when the junkyard-dwelling Jellicle tribe of cats prowls out for their annual ball, during which their leader must choose one of them to be reborn into a new life.

The new touring production features beloved songs like "Memory" reimagined by an all-star crew, like choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton), who also created new numbers for the North American tour and is doing the same for that big-screen release later this year. Purrfect timing.
