The newest boutique to open in Rancho Santa Fe is called Poppy. Celebrating its grand opening Thursday September 29th, it’s located in the space that once housed Gracie boutique.
Poppy offers a mix of casual, work, and cocktail clothing, with a wonderful selection of dresses. Selling exclusively modern and American clothing brands like Milly, Black Halo, DVF, Alice and Oliva, and Joie. The store is designed in a "Hollywood Regency Style"—meaning very contemporary (the centerpiece is a huge white enamel desk), tons of pink and orange accents, touches of whimsy, and lots of glamour.
Owner Heather Hunter, began her retail business in 2002, in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta, with an online site called Pink Icing. "I started the online business because I couldn’t get the stuff I saw in the fashion magazines in my local boutiques. And no one would ship to Canada," Hunter says. Hunter’s own style is classic and very feminine and she seems to possess an extremely sharp eye when it comes to carrying pieces that are flattering to women of all shapes and sizes. Prices are reasonable—not cheap, but not outrageous.
Poppy may very well replace the need for women in RSF to ever have to traverse the local malls again. Customers can find great denim lines, cute foundation garments, and some of the most striking dress styles in the city.
