The Grand Golf Club at Fairmont Grand Del Mar is nestled in the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve on 380 acres that take members and resort guests on an ever-changing course, which includes elevated tee boxes, holes dotted through secluded canyons, expansive views, and a feeling of privacy—like you are the only soul out there.

But what sets this course apart is its practice facility. The 5,000-square-foot practice range includes two large tees at each end, both featuring their own unique conditions like wind patterns and temperatures based on elevation and breeze. It’s also stocked with mint-condition Pro V1 practice balls, allowing more accurate feedback when gauging yardages.

On the range, each target is surrounded by bunkers, a variety of grass types, and meticulous undulations for better depth perception, providing a practice environment that mimics a real course’s terrain. The short-game facility is equally diverse and offers practice for every type of short-game shot.

Considering the hotel’s family-friendly reputation, it’s no surprise that the experience translates to the golf course, too. Fairmont Grand Del Mar offers junior golf clinics every Friday, complimentary junior rental clubs, a half-price daily rate for teens ages 13–17, and free play for kids 12 and under who are staying at the resort. Go fore it, kiddos!
