A new La Jolla space combines apparel, food, and free workouts

We’re obsessed with a new retail-workout space that feels like Disneyland for the spandex set.

Lorna Jane Active Living Room is a new venue in La Jolla that combines a retail store, a selection of fresh juices, alkaline water, and healthy snacks, and an exercise studio. It’s the Australian apparel brand’s first U.S. “Living Room” after launching a successful flagship location Down Under. The trifecta means you can update your workout wardrobe, break a sweat, and replenish all in one place.

The concept was inspired by founder Lorna Jane Clarkson’s “Move, nourish, believe” mantra. “Move” encourages activity, “nourish” reminds us to eat well and do the things that make us happy, and “believe” motivates us to set a positive daily intention. But what you make of that—and what you have time for—is up to you, according to Clarkson.

“It’s whatever you love to do,” she says. “It could be playing with your kids in the park or it could be an hour in the gym. It’s about what you can do that day.”

Classes at the La Jolla studio include kickboxing, yoga, cardio ballet, Zumba, Pilates, and more (with a minimum of one free class every morning and evening). A Del Mar Living Room was slated to open at the end of June and a downtown location is

in the works.
