Don’t let the sleek black exterior fool you. Inside this Crown Point café is a bright, tropical-themed oasis with coffee, pastries, and gourmet toasts.
New chef, new decor, new menu—it’s part of the revamp at Tower23 Hotel’s beachfront restaurant. After a previous stint from 2006 to 2014, Executive Chef David Warner is back in the kitchen, turning out steaks, seafood platters, and nigiri and sushi rolls.

This low-key alternative to Pacific Beach has plenty of space on the sand and a great vista for sunsets. It’s popular for NamaSteve’s weekend yoga classes on grassy Palisades Park.

Their burger is decidedly basic—a half- or third-pound patty with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and mayonnaise between a sesame seed bun—but that’s why we love it. Fries are extra, and payment is cash-only.

The bayfront property recently collaborated with local distiller Malahat Spirits Co. on a spiced rum. Take it to the sand—the beach chairs are open to the public—to enjoy it straight up or blended into their excellent mai tai.
Perfect for large groups and four-legged friends, this Baja-inspired restaurant-bar from The Verant Group (Barleymash, The Smoking Gun) has fire pits, DJs, and indulgent bar food like carne asada fries and a quesadilla pizza. Feeling full? Thankfully, there’s a dance floor so you can sweat it off.
