Set in the lovely Casa de Balboa building, the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) is an internationally renowned center for visual learning that strives to preserve history and demonstrate culture. The museum’s excellent permanent collection offers a rich photographic heritage with 8,600-plus images, and 20,000 books and 7,000 journals in its library. MOPA’s new photo policy allows photography in the museum, inviting visitors to share their experiences. Commem- orating Balboa Park’s centennial of the 1915 Panama–California Exposition, MOPA is presenting 7 billion Others, poignant video portraits of people across the globe. Believing that “art is for everyone,” the museum welcomes visitors to Pay What You Wish on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (through August 28).
