Produced in partnership with the San Diego County Medical Society, San Diego Magazine’s Top Doctors Celebration honored the 2018 Top Doctors as featured in the October issue. A farm-to-fork menu showcased local ingredients and the culinary talents of chef Brian Malarkey at his restaurant, Farmer & the Seahorse. Guests enjoyed a walkabout dining experience paired with craft cocktails, San Diego beers, fine wine, music, and dancing.
The highlight of the evening was a chef competition sponsored by the Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP) and Nutrition in Healthcare Leadership Team (NHLT). The competition featured Prime Healthcare, Palomar Health, Plum Healthcare Group, SHARP HealthCare, and UC San Diego Health, which are all members of NHLT. The organization works collaboratively to advance healthful, sustainable food and beverage practices in healthcare facilities across the county. Guests were able to cast their vote for the best dish for an Audience Choice Award; a panel of judges that included Troy Johnson (San Diego Magazine & Food Network), Barbara Mandel (CHIP), and Dr. David Bazzo (San Diego County Medical Society), determined the winners for other categories.
