San Ysidro Health (SYHC) raised $670,000 during their 50th anniversary gala rightfully named “La Gran Fiesta.” SYHC hosted 900 guests, including State Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. The non-profit exceeded its fundraising goal with help from guests participating in the silent auction. The funds will allow SYHC to provide high quality services to over 105,000 patients, more than half of whom are children and seniors. The gala also paid tribute to one of the organization’s founders, Carmen Martinez, in addition to philanthropist Lisette Farrell, for all of their hard work and dedication to improving the health and wellness of children in San Diego County.

“We believe the basis for a healthy and competitive economy is a healthy family, and we are honored to have served our community’s hard-working families for the last 50 years and are dedicated to honoring our mission for the next 50 years,” says Kevin Mattson, SYHC’s president and CEO. “We would like to thank our patients for choosing us as their provider of care, our dedicated staff, and community supporters that have helped us make a difference in the communities we serve.”

The Sharp HospiceCare Benefit Regatta raised more than $400,000 this year to help support the Homes for Hospice program, which offers a comfortable environment to patients with a life-limiting illness. There were 640 guests who hopped onto yachts at San Diego Bay to watch 55 boats vie for a spot in the 2020 Hospice Regattas National Championship in Charleston, South Carolina. The day before the race, 550 guests took part in a pre-race dinner and silent action at the Hotel del Coronado. Sharp HospiceCare, Coronado Yacht Club, and Cortez Racing Association hosted the weekend full of activities, and to date, this annual event has brought in over $4.25 million for Sharp HospiceCare.

Both professional models and St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center (SMSC) students strutted their stuff in front of 600 guests at the Haute with Heart Fashion Show & Luncheon. The event, which took place at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, raised over $100,000 to help fund SMSC programs that serve more than 400 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In addition to the fashion show, guests were encouraged to take part in boutique shopping, auctions, opportunity drawings, and more.
