This 4th of July weekend, beach goers who are cited for committing selected non-traffic infractions or misdemeanors may be eligible for "Instant Justice", a new program launched by the Beach Area Community Court (BACC) and Discover Pacific Beach.

Those who agree to participate in the program will report for 5 hours of community service on the morning of July 5th, where they will clean up trash on beaches hit hardest by the holiday crowds. The program is open to anyone cited in Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and Mission Bay Park. The program is voluntary, and if those charged complete their 5 hours of community service (and bring a $40 payment), no charges against them will be filed.

Chief Deputy City Attorney Regan Savalla says "Due to the high number of offenders on the 4th of July holiday weekend, this is a great way for those who are cited to give back to our beach community by performing community work service at the beach and instantly receive the benefit of criminal charges not being filed against them."
