What a tough month! Our annual Top Doctors issue is one of our most popular, especially for newsstand buyers. It’s a great service for the readers and we feel strongly about putting it prominently on the cover so they can find it. But it’s not every day you turn 65. We were compelled to nudge this magazine’s, and this city’s, history to mark our anniversary. Our intrepid designers set out to do both—feature doctors and a historical retrospective on one cover. Ultimately, we went with a vintage photo and a strong Top Docs skybar. One hiccup: Apparently, the logo must be the most prominent thing on a magazine cover, and it’s up to the individual post offices to determine the aesthetic. If they don’t like it, they can refuse to send copies through their office. The nerve! Luckily, ours passed the test. Phew.
