Ice Skating at the Hotel Del Coronado

Where Skates meet the Sea

By Katelyn Montero | Photo by Dirk Hansen

There’s only one place where the sharp blades of skates on ice meet the soft ocean breeze, and that’s at the Hotel Del’s famous Skating by the Sea. For the ninth year, the Coronado landmark will transform the Windsor Lawn into an oceanfront ice rink, open for daily skating sessions November 27 to January 5. On December 10, local media personalities will perform in a skating competition to benefit the Make-A- Wish Foundation of San Diego. Judged by Kiptyn Locke and KYXY’s Jef & Jer, So You WISH You Could Skate will honor our teachers, firefighters, and military personnel. Bonus: In its 125th holiday season, the hotel will be decked out with antique decorations and 100,000 sparkling lights.
