A man who tries to perfect an evil laugh on his video blog, has a not-so-terrifying sidekick named Moist ,and pines after the girl at the local Laundromat may not make a great super-villain, but he does make an incredibly entertaining hour of live theatre. Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog LIVE!, a fan-driven adaptation based on Joss Whedon's musical tragicomedy miniseries at the Tenth Avenue Theatre stays faithful to the original story yet dynamic performances from the cast make the material fresh and exciting.

Both those who are already fans of the miniseries and those completely unfamiliar with it will be drawn in by the likable Dr. Horrible, who sings about his aspiration to gain acceptance into the Evil League of Evil and tries to work up the courage to talk to Penny, the girl of his dreams.
Despite his assertions that he has a "Ph.D in horribleness," Dr. Horrible manages to turn the audience’s pre-conceived notions of villains and superheroes upside down. Minto’s Captain Hammer is hilariously arrogant and self-absorbed, a perfect foil for the bumbling underdog Dr. Horrible.
Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog LIVE! is followed each night by Gam3rs the Play, a one-man show that follows a day in the life of an avid gamer. Both productions are affiliated with Gam3rcon, the celebration of all things video game-related July 19-24 at the 10th Ave Theatre.
If you haven’t gotten your fill of superheroes and villains from Comic-Con, you can catch Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog LIVE! from July 16-30th. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and are available at brownpapertickets.com.
