Forget old standards— resumes can be 1-2 pages to ensure relevant keywords and accomplishments are listed for the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to highly rank your resume.

Be careful with font color. Red means “loss” on financial documents. Stick to black.

This section has a good use of action words and metrics—it shows the value you provide.

Terms like “MS Project” will help ATS rank a project manager resume highly. Keywords are specific to each job title. To figure out which to use, read the job description carefully and think like your ideal employer.

Avoid repetitive words and using pronouns such as “I” on your resume—save that for the cover letter.

Spell out acronyms. Not everyone knows PMP is Project Management Professional. Also, ensure keywords are listed.

Hobbies typically don’t belong on a resume, but there are exceptions. Some volunteer experience demonstrates relevant skills.
