March 31 – April 1: San Diego Brew and Crew Classic, Ski Beach

1600 Vacation Road, Mission Bay, 12 – 3 p.m.

Take in the splendor of intense athletic competition, watching over 4,000 collegiates row for the gold, while kicking back with a few cold ones. $40 gets you ten five-ounce tasters from a slew of Southern California craft breweries and a performance by indie rockers, Everest.

April 1: Mission Valley Craft Beer and Food Festival, Handlery Hotel

950 Hotel Circle North, Mission Valley, 1 – 5 p.m.

The third annual run of this event will be stocked with San Diego craft beer and food from local chefs. It’s unknown what those toques will be cooking up, but with proceeds benefitting Fresh Start Surgical Gifts and Wounded Warrior Homes, they’ve certainly found a recipe for success.

April 13 – 14: Real Ale Festival, Pizza Port

561 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, 4/13: 4 p.m. – 11 p.m., 4/14: 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.

This year’s salute to cask-conditioned ales will be the last. Organizers are pulling the plug due to the widespread availability of real ale throughout the County…but not without putting on one last epic sudsy soiree. Get their early on the 13th for a VIP session stocked with special beers from 1 to 4 p.m.

April 22: Stone Oakquinox, Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens

1999 Citracado Parkway, Escondido, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Ever had a rich, bourbon barrel-aged stout and thought, Man, I wish I could get my hands on more beers like this? Wish granted! Your genie—Stone Brewing Co. beverage director Bill Sysak. He’s rounded up over 100 rare beers optimally matured in a wide variety of spirit-infused barrels for this ode to the oak.
