International Smoke’s Pear of Thieves is a Perfect Fall Cocktail

Pear doesn’t get nearly enough play in cocktails. For folks who aren’t fans of sweet drinks, pear offers a milder flavor that’s a perfect pairing (pun intended) for fall spices and the heavier spirits you often find in cold-weather cocktails.

International Smoke’s Pear of Thieves cocktail cranks up pear’s role with a pear purée and St. George Spirits’ wonderful Spiced Pear Liqueur. A vanilla-bourbon syrup nicely ties everything together. International Smoke is located in the newish shopping-and-dining hub One Paseo. Head over and give it a try, out or make it at home for a holiday gathering.

Pear of Thieves

1.5 oz Rittenhouse Rye

3/4 oz St. George Spirits’ Spiced Pear Liqueur

1/2 oz pear purée

1/2 oz maple syrup

1/2 oz lemon juice

1 barspoon vanilla-bourbon syrup (buy a bottle or add a couple tablespoons of bourbon to a vanilla simple syrup)

Pour all ingredients into tall shaker and add ice. Shake well and double strain over a large ice cube or serve straight up in a coupe glass. Garnish with a toasted marshmallow.
