About David L. Wolf, M.D., F.A.C.S.

For Dr. David Wolf, a board-certified plastic surgeon, surgery involves both skill and art, blending a keen appreciation of natural beauty and the sound judgment that comes with years of experience. Practicing in La Jolla since 1981, Dr. Wolf has grown a large practice, based almost exclusively on referrals from previous patients who were so pleased with their results. “Plastic surgery is an art because each patient is different,” Dr. Wolf explains. “But it’s also a skill that requires a clear understanding of what the patient’s goals are and what we are working to achieve together.” Dr. Wolf notes that the best plastic surgery is the kind without that “plastic surgery” look. This requires meticulous attention to detail. “The results should be remarkable, but should also look soft and natural,” he explains. “For instance, with a facelift, if the patient looks tight, pulled or drawn, this represents a poor result. “I have a strong artistic background and appreciation of true beauty,” says Dr. Wolf. “It’s not just a matter of doing one procedure or another. It’s striving for a result based on what real beauty looks like. The goals should be both achievable and still look dramatic and natural.” Excellence in plastic surgery requires precision and talent. Additionally, Dr. Wolf feels that it is very important to give the patient as much time as needed, so as to fully listen to the patient’s concerns and to explain the proposed surgery and recovery in detail. The patient should be completely comfortable with the proposed surgery and with Dr. Wolf. Dr. Wolf does not do fillers or Botox. His focus is exclusively on plastic and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Wolf feels that focusing strictly on surgery enables him to achieve the very best results possible.
