Enjoy the flavors of Napa Valley from the comfort of your home at Gelson’s next virtual wine tasting event. Ted Edwards, Winemaker Emeritus and one of the longest-tenured winemakers in Napa Valley, will be representing the esteemed Freemark Abbey winery and act as the flavor guide.
Ted has overseen much of the winery’s ascendance. With nearly 50 years’ worth of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon vintagestucked away in its library, Freemark’s signature portfolio of wines represents one of the most fully realized Cabernet programs in America. They're produced by a winery whose contemporary rise to prominence has, from the 1960s to the present, coincided with that of California’s fine wine industry.
The virtual tasting will take place on October 14 at 6 pm, and will feature the following wines: Napa Valley Merlot ($32.99), the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($49.99), and the Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon ($64.99). Pair one, two, or all three of these options with a Gelson’s custom Cheese & Charcuterie Plate.
The price of admission is $24.99, and which includes the Custom Cheese & Charcuterie plate for two. The meats and cheeses are specially curated to complement the wine. Featured items include Sliced Breast of Chicken Romano, Point Reyes TomaProvence & Bay Blue, Kerrygold Reserve Aged Cheddar, Trois Petits Cochons Pâté Grand-Mère & Organic Caperberries – served with Villars Swiss Milk Chocolate, Mitica ChocoCherries, Sea Salt Marcona Almonds, and Fresh Blackberries.
Guests can RSVP by pre-paying for Gelson’s Custom Cheese & Charcuterie Plate at https://www.gelsons.com/freemarkabbey. The specially priced wines, along with the cheese and charcuterie plate, will be available for pick-up on October 13 and 14 at Gelson’s Pacific Beach, Gelson’s Del Mar, and Gelson’s Carlsbad.
