This presentation will explore the current treatments for hearing loss, including speech mapping—a system that allows practitioners to see sound at the eardrum for fine-tuning treatment. Audiologists Eileen Augila and Barbara Parker will also discuss how the brain interprets sound and affects speech and the vital importance of the brain in filtering and interpreting sound. They are excited to share the many positive results of the patients they treat. About Eileen Augila Eileen is a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist and has been in practice with Miracle Ear in La Jolla since 2005. She received extensive training and a Professional Certification from Miracle-Ear and has also been trained in Live Speech Mapping, Real Ear Measurement, deep canal impressions, and is proficient with all Audiometric equipment. In addition to her work with Miracle-Ear, she is a member of the International Hearing Aid Society and the state chapter of Hearing Health Care Providers of California. Eileen has donated her services and Miracle-Ear aids to help local children with hearing difficulties at no cost to their families through the Miracle-Ear Foundation.
