Still undecided about how you’ll celebrate the 4th? My top pick is Alchemy's 4th of July BBQ & Bicycle Bash in South Park.

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Alchemy's Executive Chef Ricardo Heredia will be firing up the barbecue so you don’t have to. For $12, you can choose from either cider-brined roasted pork (off a whole, 100 pound pig), applewood smoked chicken, Texas-style brisket, or tofu and get two sides included, from a Greek salad to aioli-dressed potato salad.

Alchemy’s neighbor, Hamilton’s Tavern, will be offering up San Diego-brewed beer for $3 and local company Julian Hard Cider is selling 22 oz. bombers of their cider for $5.  The restaurant will also have cocktail specials, and as a treat, Normal Height’s Viva Pops will be on hand with their fruity frozen paletas.

Ride down on your bike and take part in a bicycle decorating contest and parade, or enjoy live music and carnival games.  And, come nightfall, nearby Golden Hill Park has a great view of Petco Park’s fireworks display.
