Mexico’s foremost standup comedian, Franco Escamilla, brings his sarcasm and dark humor to Balboa Theatre.

 

October 9:

Hometown rock band Stone Temple Pilots returns for a performance at Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre.

 

October 10:

Head to the San Diego Convention Center to view the county’s largest contemporary fine art show, Art San Diego (through 10/13).

Embark on a culinary tour of Orange Avenue during A Taste of Coronado.

Support Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County in their annual gala at Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine, which includes a seafood cocktail party, gourmet dinner, auction, and live music.

Cookbook author and host of the Netflix series Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat, Samin Nosrat dishes with radio host Evan Kleiman at Balboa Theatre.

Catch a performance from Train at Walden Family Services’ signature fundraising event, Wine D’Vine, at Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine.

 

October 12:

Spend a weekend in the cove at La Jolla Art & Wine Festival.

The new Museum of Photographic Arts exhibit The Stories They Tell looks at the medium from 1920 to today (through 2/17).

Step inside swanky houses during the San Diego Modern Home Tour, presented by Modern Architecture + Design Society.

Visit the Filipino-American Arts & Culture Festival for performances, workshops, and cuisine at San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts.

Stroll the two-day Latin American Art Fair at Bread & Salt to admire work from over 100 artists.

 

October 15:

Celebrate independent filmmaking at the six-day San Diego International Film Festival,with over 100 screenings at various venues.

 

October 16:

Legendary British rock band The Who brings down the house at Viejas Arena.

 

October 17:

You’ll be feeling so cool as the Jonas Brothers take the stage at Pechanga Arena.

Help raise money for Susan G. Komen San Diego at Dine Out for the Cure,when nearly 50 restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds to breast cancer research.

Go to Liberty Station for four days of immersive performances during La Jolla Playhouse’s Without Walls Festival.

 

October 22:

Aida at the Civic Theatre follows a pharaoh’s daughter who is asked to spy for her homeland (through 10/27).

 

October 23:

Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys at North Coast Repertory Theatre is a comedy about two vaudeville stars re-connecting after retirement (through 11/17).

 

October 25:

Grab your candy bag and head to Piazza della Famiglia to Trick-or-Treat on India Street.

 

October 26:

Hit Bonita Cove for World Wildlife Fund’s Panda Paddle fundraiser.

Spend An Evening with Bill Maher at the Civic Theatre for political commentary and plenty of laughs.

Get wild at the Gaslamp’s Wckd Village Halloween party and music festival.

Carbo-load on unlimited pasta at the San Diego Mac & Cheese Fest in Waterfront Park.

Experience Hillcrest’s Nightmare on Normal Street for a frightful costume contest and dance party.

 

October 27:

Enjoy a private fundraising concert from jazz singer Jonathan Karrant at the Orange & Black Soiree at the Timken Museum of Art.
