The Old Globe presents In Your Arms, a series of dance-theater vignettes portraying the extremes of romantic love. (Through October 25.)

October 2:

Celebrate lager and lederhosen at the two-day La Mesa Oktoberfest.

October 3:

Explore the Central Library after hours with literature-themed food, drinks, and entertainment during the Celebration Under the Dome.

October 4:

Enjoy artistic displays at the Del Mar Village Taste and Art Stroll, featuring live music, more than two dozen restaurants, and a designated “dog stroll.”

October 7:

Take in a classic production as the Phantom of the Opera returns to the Civic Theatre.

October 9:

Prepare for laughs as today’s hottest comics —think Aziz Ansari and Amy Schumer—take the stage during the Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival at SleepTrain Amphitheatre.

October 10:

Wine and dine through La Jolla Village as the La Jolla Art and Wine Festival takes over Girard Avenue with the works of more than 150 artists, a gourmet marketplace, and beer and wine garden.

October 11:

Mangia! Mangia! At Little Italy FESTA! with local artwork, live music, and pasta.

October 14:

Sip and sample Crown City’s finest along Orange Avenue during A Taste of Coronado.

October 15:

Join more than 2,000 fellow foodies dressed in white for the fourth annual Le Diner en Blanc (held in a secret location!).

October 16:

Country girls, shake it for Luke Bryan, as he brings his “Kick the Dust Up” tour to Sleep Train Amphitheatre.

October 17: 

No, her first name ain’t baby, it’s Janet, “Miss Jackson if you’re nasty,” on her Unbreakable World Tour at Viejas Arena.

October 18:

Seafaring pets are welcome aboard Hornblower Cruises for the Sunday Bow Wow Brunch.

Venture to the dark side with Stone Brewery as the Escondido megaship pours more than 100 dark brews at its Pour It Black fall beer event.

October 22: 

Head to Estancia La Jolla for a feast at the third annual Whiskey and Wine BBQ.

October 25: 

Celebrate the Craft with fellow foodies, chefs, growers, vintners, and a veritable smorgasbord of artisans during this 13th annual event at the Lodge at Torrey Pines.

Settle in for story time as Write Out Loud presents a stage reading of The Curious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde at Old Town Theatre.

October 29: 

Get your ’80s fix with a 2015 twist as Material Girl Madonna brings her Rebel Heart Tour to Valley View Casino Center.

October 31: 

Get ghouled out and glammed up at the ultimate fright night street party, San Diego Monster Bash.
