San Diego restaurant rumors, openings, and coming-soons in October




South Park's Neapolitan pizza star Buona Forchetta is opening a second spot in Liberty Station by end of year.



Architect Jonathan Segal's next building (dubbed "Mr. Robinson") will go into Hillcrest and get Trust, a new restaurant from chef Brad Wise (ex-JRDN).



Kettner Exchange is opening a donut shop next door called Devil's Dozen, with chef Brian Redzikowski's bombolini as the star treat.



Duke's La Jolla - the 13,000-square-foot restaurant in the former Top of the  Cove space - opens this month with Hawaiian-Californian food from chef Anthony Sinsay.



Chef Brian Malarkey is prepping his new superconcept in Little Italy - part restaurant, part cafe/market - called The Herb Shop.



The duo behind North Park's beloved bistro Smoking Goat will open a new concept next door in November, called  One Door North.



The Keating has tapped Harney Sushi co-owner Kirk Harrison to open an izakaya (like a Japanese brewpub) in the hotel's basement space.



Golden Hill standout Counterpoint has tapped chef Fred Keller, who worked in the Michelin-starred Martini House in Napa and Roka Akor in Chicago.



San Diego's queen of Thai cuisine, Su-Mei Yu, celebrates 30 years as chef-owner of Saffron the week of October 19, with 30 percent off all week.



Oceanside bistro star Flying Pig has opened its second spot, in Vista. North County inland, we fee a renaissance.
