65 Years of San Diego Magazine

A look back at big stories, fashion, & covers

Published:

Before there was a Coronado Bridge or a Carmel Valley, before craft cocktails were a thing and artisan donuts all the rage, in a time when fashion meant hats and gloves and kids were better seen and not heard (and not taken to parties, family-friendly bars, or Gymborees), before 858 and 760 and 619, when we were 714 but didn’t even have to dial an area code, before UC San Diego and SeaWorld—we were publishing a magazine every month or every other month, and have ever since. This October, we dedicate 12 pages to the stories, fashions, ads, and covers that informed, guided, and inspired our young city.
