Latino Film Festival

The Latino Film Festival’s final picture may have rolled, but don’t think anyone is headed home! The LDFF went out in style with the Closing Night Gala at the US Grant Hotel, hosted by Yolanda S. Walther-Meade. Guests were treated to the musical stylings of DJ Mambo Castillo and the Kevin Cooper Trio in the Grant Grill Lounge, while others danced to Rumbankete, the 13-piece salsa band sensation. Jose Maria Yazpik (Solo Quiero Caminar), Leon Ichaso (guest director) and Peter Bratt (La Mission) were on hand to mingle and look forward to next year!

Applause for a Cause

The Women's Resource Center and San Luis Rey Rotary rolled out the red carpet for the Applause for a Cause attendees at the Sheraton Carlsbad Resort and Spa. The Academy Awards played on 10-foot TV screens as viewers munched on popcorn and candy in their award-show finest. Dan Cohen, anchor of KFMB/Channel 8, served as master of ceremonies and presided over the event’s auction.

Jewish Family Services Heart and Soul Gala

The Jewish Family Services’ Heart and Soul Gala celebrated the accomplishments of the 2010 Mitzvah Award Honorees: Charles Feurzeig, Felicia Mandelbaum and Michael London. The event’s 620 attendees gathered at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla to enjoy the sounds of the Big Daddy Orchestra. More than $880,000 was raised to support the organization’s 50 programs.
