The jewelry designer offers a peek into her personal gems

Published:

Age: 41
Neighborhood: Encinitas
Current Project: Jewelry designer at Yuwei Designs
Background: East Coast native Yuwei traded working in corporate insurance for couture when she launched her eponymous jewelry line in 2013. Inspired by paintings in Bali, her pieces feature clean lines, geometry, and a global aesthetic, and have been buzzed about in Vogue and InStyle.
Fashion Philosophy: “There are absolutely no rules. Create what you love.”
Personal Style: Earthy with a bit of edge and glamour

Her Favorite Things:

“The Nars velvet matte lip pencil in Cruella works with just about any skin tone. Wear it matte or add a little gloss to liven it up.” $26, narscosmetics.com

“I bought these black lava rock mala beads from a woman making them on the beach in Bali. The rocks make for an interesting texture and look stunning paired with my bold jewelry.”

“The Chakra salad from the SalmonBerry blog is the tastiest and prettiest salad I’ve ever eaten. It’s easy to make and perfect for spring and summer.”

Dita sunglasses are made in Japan and polished with hand-cut bamboo chips. I lost these in the ocean and bought the same ones a few days later.” Lotus sunglasses, $295,
go-optic.com

“All of my paintings from Bali are from a local family in Ubud. Their paintings are beautiful and have sentimental value to me. I have too many to count—I’m out of wall space!”

“This textured Frannie calf hair clutch by Rorin stopped me in my tracks. I had to have it.” $340, neonheartshop.us

“Bold statement jewelry oozes confidence and looks fabulous whether you’re in a t-shirt and jeans or glammed up.” Oval black onyx ring, $495, yuweidesigns.com

“This vervaine olive leaf candle has notes of lemon verbena, olive leaves, and rosewood. It smells divine and comes in an elegant glass jar.” $29; voluspa.com

“Turquoise is my favorite accent color for home décor. These pillows by Thro by Mario Lorenz really grab your attention.”
