Freshen Up at the Hotel

Check in feeling jet-lagged, check out looking revitalized

The Hotel:

Sparkling Hill Resort in British Columbia

What they’re offering:

Cold Sauna Treatment

Just outside Cologna is the four-diamond, Swarovski family-owned Sparkling Hill Resort, whose spa offers the first North American cryotherapy cold sauna as a health treatment (multiple sessions can benefit arthritis and other ailments). An attendant guides groups of four through three chambers of descending temperatures, starting at 5° F and ending at -110° F. In the last room, you walk in a circle, listen to music, encourage each other, and focus on keeping your muscles relaxed. Unlike hot saunas, there is no bench for sitting—you need to move. A post-sauna shiver is inevitable, but within 20 minutes you’ll be completely rejuvenated. $45, sparklinghill.com

Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills

What they’re offering:

Luxe low-calorie fare

Sofitel’s Estérel Restaurant is debuting a De-Light Menu, which makes it possible to dine on three courses and still stay under 500 calories. Customer favorites include the sea bass escabeche, which clocks in at just 112 calories, and the gluten-free linguini with basil ratatouille and local burratta, at 206 calories. All bets are off with the alcohol, but the bartender does mix the best green-colored cocktail we’ve ever tasted: The Byblos is made with Ketel One or Hendricks Gin, local wild arugula, and pressed lime juice agave. Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park

What they’re offering:

Fragrance Butler

Even the chicest travelers won’t risk throwing glass perfume bottles in their luggage. But no one wants to smell like a musty airplane, either. At various Rosewood Hotels and Resorts around the world, including Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park and New York’s Carlyle, guests can page a Fragrance Butler, who’ll arrive with a silver tray of 10 designer scents for your spritzing pleasure. The scent menus range from Chanel No. 5 for women to Tom Ford’s Black Orchid for men, and the complimentary service is available 24/7. That’s the smell of luxury. rosewoodhotels.com
