Even when the heat is on, it’s never too hot for the classic musical Guys and Dolls at The Old Globe (through 8/13).

Big Bay Boom

July 4:

Laugh with comedian Anjelah Johnson as another season of the San Diego County Fair comes to an end.

Celebrate Independence Day with four fireworks displays during the Big Bay Boom along the embarcadero.

Enjoy picnic games, meet Lego characters, and watch a fireworks display during Red, White and BOOM! at Legoland.

July 5:

At the Old Place, a play about a literature professor who returns to Virginia and finds a surprise at her childhood home, premieres at La Jolla Playhouse (through 7/30).

July 7:

Star of the Broadway hit Hamilton, Leslie Odom Jr. performs at Embarcadero Marina Park South with the San Diego Symphony (also 7/8).

Wrangle the kids and head to San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum in Escondido for its second annual Summer Concert Series, featuring live music, crafts, and food and drink (also 7/21).

July 8:

Grab your bat and ball for two weekends of the 64th annual world championship Over the Line Tournament on Fiesta Island.

July 9:

Shake it during the South Bay Salsa Festival at J Street Marina Bayside Park in Chula Vista.

Score tickets to the CONCACAF Gold Cup double-header soccer tournament at Qualcomm Stadium, featuring Mexico vs. El Salvador and Curacao vs. Jamaica.

July 12:

Legendary crooner Tony Bennett presents a special concert for Bayside Summer Nights at Embarcadero Marina Park South.

San Diego Pride

July 14:

Sport your rainbow-colored gear for the three-day LGBT Pride festivities, including a rally, parade, 5K race, and music festival.

Observe world-class sand castle sculptors in action at the two-day Imperial Beach Sun & Sea Festival, with “Pirates in Paradise” as this year’s theme.

July 15:

Shop retro and handmade goods from more than 100 vendors across the country during Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market at Liberty Station.

July 19:

Don your wide-brimmed hat or stylish fascinator to cheer the ponies on for Opening Day at Del Mar Racetrack.

Do you wanna be where the people are? Come to The Little Mermaid musical at Moonlight Amphitheatre (through 8/5).

Craft beer geeks unite for the Hop-Con 5.0 festival at Stone Brewing in Liberty Station, featuring popular drafts from the past.

July 20:

Join the crowd of fans in costume for Comic-Con International at San Diego Convention Center (through 7/23).

Celebrate the art of haute couture on screen during La Jolla International Fashion Film Festival at UC San Diego’s Mandeville Auditorium and The Lot (through 7/22).

Indulge in a four-course meal with vino pairings at the Artisan Table Signature Wine Series at A.R. Valentien, featuring Pahlmeyer Wines.

Howard Jones, English Beat, Men Without Hats, Katrina and the Waves, and Modern English take the stage for 105.7 Max FM’s Retro Futura concert at SDSU’s Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre.

July 22:

Craft beer, comic books, and live music converge for the Heroes Brew Festival at Waterfront Park.

Support local businesses while strolling for specials at the South Park Summer Walkabout neighborhood block party.

Watch Friar Tuck, Little John, and Maid Marian in the classic tale Robin Hood! at The Old Globe (through 8/27).

July 23:

Country music power couple Tim McGraw and Faith Hill perform live at Valley View Casino Center.

July 25:

Sing along to hit musical comedy The Book of Mormon at San Diego Civic Theatre (through 7/30).

July 26:

Eat, drink, and be merry during the Feast food festival at Old Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, benefiting community-based nonprofits.

July 27:

You’ll hope the concert lasts all night long as Lionel Richie takes the stage with special guest Mariah Carey at Viejas Arena.

July 28:

Enjoy a California Clambake on the beach at Hotel del Coronado, followed by a screening of Finding Dory.

San Pop Factory

July 29:

While the La Jolla location is expanding, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego will host its annual Monte Carlo benefit gala, Pop Factory, at their downtown site.

Let your furry friend catch a wave during the annual Surf Dog Competition in Imperial Beach. The event also includes a beer garden and food trucks.
