Where the Pros Go to Get Outside

The city’s top athletes give us the scoop on where they like to run, ride, & more

Published:

RUN

Meb Keflezighi, Olympic runner:

“I love running Mission Bay Park and Balboa Park. I also kayak and go wind sailing.”

BIKE

Julie Moss, Ironman triathlete:

“You can’t beat the Elfin Forest/Del Dios Coast Loop for a scenic and challenging bike ride. I like to start at HERevolution bike shop in Solana Beach and ride counterclockwise to get the big climb past Lake Hodges over early!”

SKATE

Josh Kerr, professional surfer:

My kids and I love skateboarding, and there are some of the best parks in the world in Encinitas.”

SUP

Ginger Huber, competitor in the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series:

Stand up paddleboarding is quickly becoming one of my new favorite water sports. I’m eager to try the nighttime SUP with the LED lights underneath the board so you can check out all the marine life.”

SURF

Taylor Knox, professional surfer:

“I grew up on South Ponto Beach in Encinitas and learned to surf in the area, but Black’s is also one of my favorites.”
