June 21: Mainly Mozart: Guest conductor Justin Brown leads this all-star orchestra of concertmasters and top national players at Balboa Theatre, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 and more.

June 28–September 1: San Diego Symphony Pops Season: Tune into this series of spectacular performances at the Embarcadero South.

July 3: Dash & Dine Gaslamp 5K: Race through the city streets at dusk during this inaugural run.

July 3–14: San Diego Fringe Festival: Performance art, poetry, puppetry, burlesque dance, mime, music, art exhibits—the imagination reigns at this fest, headquartered at the East Village 10th Avenue Theatre.

July 4: Independence Day

July 10: TNT (Thursday Night Thing): Expand your mind at this mashup of art and music to celebrate the Museum of Contemporary Art’s new exhibit: James Drake: Anatomy of Drawing and Space (Brain Trash).

July 10: Grain and Oak Fest: Savor premium whiskey, rye, and scotch along with small bites like jerky, charcuterie and down-home BBQ, while listening to toe-tapping live music at Jsix.

Comic-Con International San Diego Comic Con

July 23–27: Comic-Con International: Comic-book geeks, fanatics, and fans gather in full regalia to celebrate superhero and sci-fi culture at the Convention Center.

July 24–26: Judah Friedlander: Comic-Con welcomes this pop culture funnyman, formerly of 30 Rock, to the American Comedy Company.

July 27: The Voice Tour: See winner Josh Kaufman and top talent from the hit television show, like Jake Worthington and Christina Grimmie, perform at the Civic Theatre.

July 26: Star Trek (2009) Movie Presentation: Trekkies and film fans alike will enjoy this sci-fi flick on the big screen with the soundtrack performed live by the San Diego Symphony at Embarcadero Marina Park South.

August 12–17: Once: Broadway San Diego at the Civic Theatre presents this enchanting Dublin love story filled with haunting, beautiful songs that earned an Oscar.

August 17: Gospel Brunch: Elevate your spirit at the House of Blues with a glorious mix of soul-stirring music and Southern specialties.

August 23–24: San Diego Spirits Festival: This craft cocktail and culinary event shakes things up at Port Pavilion on Broadway Pier, overlooking the bay.

August 29–September 1: Festival of Sail: The North Embarcadero becomes a nautical theme park with tall-ship sails, crafts, music, ship tours, booming cannons, pirates, and more.

August 29–September 1: U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge and 3D Art Exposition: Enjoy amazing sand sculptures at this family-friendly event along downtown’s beautiful B Street Pier.
