Rumors, openings, and coming-soons in San Diego



Proprietor Jay Porter has closed The Linkery and Hubcap (formerly El Take It Easy) in North Park. Both are expected to reopen under new owners this summer.


Sea & Smoke is now open in Flower Hill Promenade, from the same owners as Urban Solace in North Park and Solace & the Moonlight Lounge in Encinitas.

Tender Greens recently opened its third San Diego location, downtown in the Greyhound Bus terminal.


Three chefs affiliated with Brian Malarkey’s restaurants quit last month, after he sold Gingham, rebranded Burlap as Searsucker, and changed the menu at Herringbone.


Southpaw Social Club is now open in the former El Vitral space downtown near Petco Park.

Chef Max Bonacci has joined the kitchen staff at Carnitas’ Snack Shack after leaving The Linkery.

Tavern at the Beach has reopened in Pacific Beach with new self-service kegs and a larger bourbon selection.


Consortium Holdings is opening a second UnderBelly, in the North Parker lofts, this year.


Owners of The Flying Pig in Oceanside are opening a second location, in Vista Village.
