Law Office of Patrick J. Mazzei, APLC
Divorces and custody disputes are often heart-wrenching, but clients can rest assured that family-law attorney Patrick Mazzei is on their side.
“I see my job as helping people during trying times with deep compassion and tough-minded legal expertise,” says Mazzei, one of San Diego’s most respected divorce attorneys. “I’m here to help them get through legal challenges and return to the rest of their lives. With my help, they can leave behind the stresses of lawyers, judges and courtrooms.”
A father of two young children, Mazzei understands the importance of family. His life story, in turn, gives him a unique perspective on both the legal system and the complicated world of personal finances.
A former owner of a restaurant in Pacific Beach, Mazzei has a business degree from the University of San Diego, where he also obtained his law degree. Mazzei has been in private practice since 1994 and became certified as a Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization in 2000.
Mazzei emphasizes custody issues and handles a variety of family-law matters, including divorces, guardianships, restraining orders and property divisions. He works with husbands and wives in addition to grandparents and step-parents who wish to step in and take custody of a child in need of care.
Unlike other attorneys, he often represents clients who have been dissatisfied with the legal service they received elsewhere.
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve taken on cases in which my client has had several attorneys in the past,” Mazzei says. “In the legal community, you’re taught to avoid those cases. But I don’t believe in turning people away, and in every single one of those cases, I ended up being the client’s last attorney.
Why is Mazzei so popular? His calm, easygoing demeanor puts clients at ease, and he always stays in close contact with them. But don’t let the calm demeanor fool you: Mazzei has extensive trial experience in complex matters and is prepared to litigate when necessary.
“I return phone calls and let clients know what’s going on with their cases. No one is ever left wondering why something is or isn’t happening,” he says. “You’d be surprised how many clients are surprised and pleased to get such personal attention. It’s just the way I do business.”
