Social Media Manager

San Diego Magazine is looking for the new voice of our social media. The voice of a city, soon the universe. Funny, smart, a real storyteller in all the things we do—food, drink, arts, culture, travel, retail, outdoors. Someone who loves to poke and prod and ogle at our city and tell stories in real time, but is also not afraid to do the important, less sexy work (analysis, reports, creative meetings with brands). Someone a little obsessive about dancing with the algorithm.

We need a strong, compelling voice. A writer with a good eye for photography who is comfortable in front of the camera. Someone who, most importantly, knows this city—and can use our social media as a running social commentary on life and culture and shops and (of course) tacos. We are looking for someone who has ideas on new concepts (“Crocheting for Cats”) for original social storytelling.

And, of course, have all the technical skills across all the socials—Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Sprout, etc.
