Tasting notes, fast facts, and expert reviews on every brewery in the San Diego region

Opened in February 2013, Culture staked out its own unique piece of the Solana Beach brew scene. Located on the now-trendy South Cedros Avenue, just down the street from the Solana Beach train station and just up the street from the legendary Belly Up Tavern, the brewery offers shoppers, beach-goers, and music fans another quality local beer-sipping option.
The smallish tasting room is thoughtfully designed—elegant and contemporary, with plenty of light. (The tasting glasses are particularly cool.) The outdoor space in back, open to the brew house and fermentation tanks, offers a good-sized area for standing, sipping, and shooting the breeze.
Classic American beer styles, brewed by Steve Ragan, make up the core of the Culture lineup, with a through-line of nicely balanced beers that finish with pleasing crispness and hop balance. With beers that are easy to drink and refreshing on the palate, this brewery has become a beach neighborhood favorite.
