Tasting notes, fast facts, and expert reviews on every brewery in the San Diego region
By Bruce Glassman
This family-friendly brewpub and pizza restaurant, located on Main Street in downtown Vista, is a longstanding member of the booming craft beer community in San Diego’s North County.
Back Street offers a nice range of seating and sipping options for visitors. In addition to the big bar and bar tables in the brewery area, there is also a large outdoor patio and a large pizza restaurant adjacent to the space. A wide selection of pizzas, salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes are available no matter where you sit.
The brew house supplies the bar, pub, and pizzeria with a tasty lineup of house beers, most of which focus on straightforward, accessible, ale-centric styles that go well with food. No matter what the style, many offerings are low to modest in alcohol, which means there are usually a few good sessionable options that don’t knock you out after one pint.
San Diego is all about great beer—and there’s an awful lot of it! We currently have more than 150 working brewery locations in our county, with an estimated 30-40 more in the planning stages. That’s a lot of breweries to sort through. So where to begin? Well, the answer is right here. Yup, we got that.
With so many breweries to choose from, we hope you’ll keep coming back to consult The San Diego Brewery Guide on a regular basis. Our ultimate goal is to make it easy for you to plan the perfect day or weekend of brewery tours and tastings in San Diego—and to do it time and time again.
