Drink This (Right Now): Cantillon Kriek at Monkey Paw

Did you hear the news? Monkey Paw, Scot Blair's new beer bar, is open, way ahead of the projected date of September 1st. If you head over tonight, be sure to try a glass of Cantillon Kriek ($13/glass) before the keg Scot has been saving for years runs out. The 100% Lambic is a Belgian beer made by fermenting lambic with Kellery cherries, which produces a dry beer wine with a vinous ("winey") taste.

Unlike most fruit beer, it's not sweet. Historically, this type of beer was served with two lumps of sugar that could be crushed and added to the beer for an extra touch of sweetness, but it's also delicious straight from the keg. Get yourself down to Monkey Paw and try a glass for yourself.
