5 Days Worth of Outfits & Parties
What I did and what I wore. (Giving away all my secrets...well, not all.)
Tuesday March 8th: I swear this is not becoming a habit…but this week my weekend started on Tuesday. For the first time since I’ve lived in San Diego, I celebrated Fat Tuesday at the Mardi Gras Festival in Hillcrest. My wonderful PR friend Rob Correa and his friend Robbie and I all had our faces painted at Mo’s, drank a little tequila, and ate bacon beignets together. I wore a black leather mini from Hunt & Gather, brown distressed leather boots by Espace,a black Banana Republic tank, and a brown sweater from Anthropologie.
Wednesday March 9th: Went to my son’s school with the other parents of sophomores to discuss what AP classes he should or shouldn’t take. There’s always some parent who has to ask why her son or daughter can’t take 17 AP classes? Over-achieving much? I wore black J Brand leggings, ballet flats from Capricorn boutique, a black tank from Banana Republic, and a military khaki style jacket from the Gap.
Thursday March 10th: I drove to Del Mar to see the launch of the Jimmy Choo 24:7 handbag line at a very fancy house. Fell in love with Jimmy Choo. I wore a blue and black satin dress complete with crinoline, from Forever 21, black booties from DSW, and a two-finger ring from Neiman-Marcus. I got lots of complements on all of it from the Del Mar ladies. Then down to the NBC party at the W Hotel.
Friday March 11th: Attended the restaurant opening of AIRR downtown in the Gaslamp. It was a cool re-model of what was the Wimberly hotel, but as all first nights at restaurant openings, it was very slow—but pretty tasty. Walked over to Fluxx for their one-year anniversary party. Not a lot of people, but the hosted bar and fresh cotton candy were a highlight. I met the only female hotel GM in San Diego, the very sexy Sandra Vivas, of the Keating Hotel. She wore a beautiful candy apple red Nicole Miller dress with ruching in all the right places. En mass, our little group headed over to Sidebar for a quick bottle of water for me, and an amazing garlic knot and slice of pizza thanks to my friend Rob Correa from Ciro’s Pizzeria…yum yum. I wore the same Forever 21 blue-and-black dress, but this time with black tights, my chunky black New Amsterdam shoes by Dulce, and a black leather jacket by Armani Exchange; it's too big—I really need a bolero style for spring.
Saturday March 12th: Went to the fabulous fashion event at the Sheraton Hotel to benefit the Food Bank of San Diego. Stylist Leonard Simpson provided a fashion show not to be rivaled. With over-the-top hats and clothing by Tommy Bahama, Boutique de Marcus, and even the shops at Hotel Del Coronado, it was 40 minutes of circus-like extravaganza. I wore a simple black slinky dress by Banana Republic and black strappy wedges by DSW. Went to dinner with my great friends at R Gang…ok, and saw the incredible movie Even The Rain.
Sunday March 13th: Forgot to change my clocks, so I slept late. Went for a two-mile walk up the coast from Solana Beach to Cardiff-by-the-Sea. I wore black leggings and an orange scoop neck tank both by Lululemon Athletica. Decided to brave three trips up and down a huge flight of stairs only to discover that I really need something called a “Ta Ta Tamer" from Lululemon—boobs were shakin’ all over the place. Came home and took a hot bath. My calves are killing me.
