Maternity Fashion and Baby Gear!

Tune in to the CW tomorrow as Rebekah shows you what's new from the local baby/mama boutiques

Tomorrow at 8:40 a.m., your style editor (moi) will be on CW (channel 6) to talk with anchor Courtney Dwyer about maternity clothing and all the new baby stuff moms need for a healthy pregnancy and babyhood. Every item we will discuss can be found at some of my favorite maternity and baby boutiques around San Diego.

Modish Maternity in La Jolla and Baby Mabel’s in Carlsbad will outfit our models with the hippest in preggerwear. The look of pregnancy fashion today is a sleek and has a sexy silhouette. Gone are the days of the 60’s TV show/Madmen look—tenting over and hiding the baby bump. Women today work out and stay in great shape throughout their pregnancies, and thanks to Demi Moore and her naked and pregnant Vanity Fair magazine cover, everyone’s mind has changed about the beauty of the pregnant body.

Babies By the Sea in Cardiff and Magical Child in Encinitas, will bring to the CW a slew of the latest and greatest in everything from breast-pumps, to organic cotton clothing by Under The Nile, to cloth diapers, books, bottles, and mom’s most required supplements. Both stores offer cutting-edge products that are fashionable, practical, environmentally friendly, and healthy for mom and baby.

It’s been 16 years since I was with child, and although I remember being scared to death when I saw that pink plus sign, having a child and raising one is the most unbelievable aspect of my life. And I wish there had been better-looking and more hip maternity wear back then. I looked like a lighter skinned and female version of Andre Leon Talley in a bad kaftan.

How did you dress when you were pregnant?
