Our Style Editor's Summer Suvival Guide

5 must-haves for summer

Unless June swoops in with the usual gloom, Memorial Day has officially ushered in summer.

So, here’s my list of summer must-haves:

Salt Eyewear. Designer David Rose describes his line as a mix of coastal luxury, understated style, subtle sophistication, and timeless fashion. The region in Japan where the eyewear is made is known for its craft and quality—similar to a Swiss made watch. Salt's frame quality, PFV Polarized lenses, and engineered fits are among the best the eyewear industry has to offer. $375.  M Missoni. The less expensive Missoni line with a local boutique in the Fashion Valley Mall, the clothes are simple, beautifully made, and fit very well. I heart the sundresses, but really love the shorts from the Spring/Summer 2011 collection. Skin Authority. This local San Diego skin care line started by Celeste Hilling, whose career started in the tech industry in Silicon Valley, did her research in an attempt to develop skin care products the “really worked”. Hilling lives in Rancho Santa Fe, and her line is available in Ritz resorts worldwide, Lowes, and the Golden Door—and the company has never run an ad. The sunscreen won #1 Editor’s Beauty Pick this year by Allure.
Laquer Fedora. Available online through the Del Mar Hat Company, this is my new answer to the big ol' beach hat. A fashionable but practical little accessory that adds a lot of style while protecting my skin from wrinkles.  Kyboe Watches. I can’t agree more with the motto of this Dutch company whose designs are inspired by flower fields, clogs, and water bottles—“Bigger is Better.” Give yourself a pop of color with these hip timepieces featured in Esquire and Playboy magazine.
