7 Upcoming Sales, Fashion & Trunk Shows, Shopping Events, and Grand Openings
So much shopping and fashion, so little time...I couldn't see it all, but you can!
As we roll into the weekend, I look at a calendar filled with numerous cool fashion events. Since I can’t be at all of them, I’d like to share with them with you.
*The 3rd annual Princess Project at Quality Social (789 6th Ave), from 6-9pm. FIDM students will re-design the prom dress, and expert judges from the fashion community will decide who wins. *All proceeds benefit the The Princess Project, a non-profit that provides prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who couldn’t otherwise afford them. *Food & Drink Specials are Available All Night *Opportunity Drawing & Silent Auction *$20 pre-register or $25 at the door. http://princessproject.org/news/san-diego-youre-invited/
*Sassy City Chicks Shopping Event, from 5-10 at the Culy Warehouse (338 7th Ave). This is not your regular trunk show/sample sale, but has grown to include 50 designers, and over 100 lines, and is now offered in 8 cities from Miami, to Los Angeles, to New York, and San Francisco. It’s only $20 (which includes a gift bag, complimentary spa services, and a cocktail), or $10, without the bag.
*Project Ethos at Fluxx nightclub from 7-11pm. Mixing music, art, and fashion Project Ethos is a fantastic way of seeing emerging designers showcase their work in a fun and exciting venue. I went last year, and though it’s a late night, there’s a lot of energy. This year, they’ll feature San Diego designers; Tatiana Zaykovskay, Keisha Audry Designs, Yrenne Landeros, Kenneth Barlis, Stacie May, Caridiwrap by Kymaro, and Frederick’s of Hollywood Swimwear who are officially launching their new swim line. The headliner is rap sensation MANN, who will be performing his smash “Buzzin” featuring 50 Cent, and four visual artists will also have their work available for viewing. A $3,000 prize will go to the winning design that incorporates Vitamin Water as their inspiration. Attendees get to vote via text. Tickets available at http://www.projectethos.com
*Grand Opening: Dolcetti Boutique and A Style Concierge (635 5th Ave). After many years, and a 3 million dollar renovation, the dream of Michael Lee and his business partners, Minet and Natalie Taylor, of Taylor guitars, has come to fruition. With 4 million people walking up and down 5th Avenue everyday, Lee hopes the space will be San Diego’s style and fashion headquarters. Located in the old Blochman Banking building, built in 1893, the original brick walls, look beautiful with the contemporary glassed in second floor, and hip new lighting fixtures. Offering a variety of styling services, as well as some great clothing lines, this spot just might be the hair, fashion, and lifestyle Mecca the Gaslamp could use. *Stu Seagall Studios is having a huge “get rid of everything” sale, from 10-3 on Sat. 2/26 & Sunday 2/27. The studio is selling all the clothing that was purchased for shows filmed in San Diego—there’s one catch--- sizes 0-6 only.
