70's Style: May the Fringe Be With You
Two local boutiques are ready to help you find fringe and dress on-trend
"Superstition," "Layla," "Stairway to Heaven," "Let’s Stay Together"—listen to these as the fringe swings from your mother’s vest and your dad’s pants bell out at the legs…
Okay, maybe you’re too young to remember all that. I’m not, and all over San Diego I’m seeing the hyper-return of the 1970’s in all of its fringey, groovy glory.
In South Park, inside the Grove, there’s a mother/daughter team that successfully mixes a mom’s taste for Eileen Fisher with a daughter’s more Nordstrom/Brass Plum style. They work beautifully together in this boutique within a boutique. There, they offer great embroidered maxi dresses, tie-dyed minis, fringe vests, and cool rompers.
Over at Melt, another boutique within a boutique, located inside Industry Showroom in the Gaslamp, the owner has the cutest fringe handbags, peacock ear-rings, and leather fringed necklaces. $45-$50.
Are you mad for fringe? What fringe pieces do you own? Ready for more?
