A Weekend That Began on a Thursday
From Neiman Marcus to the Del Mar Fairgrounds, this girl covered a lot of ground.
This weekend started on a Thursday….
All-day prep for the Neiman Marcus Fashion Rules event--very cool colab with the store and San Diego Magazine. I was helping to style the show with three of San Diego’s greatest stylists: Kristi Brooks, Silvia Hermanny, and Vanessa Valiente. I decided to wear a dress by the young designer Jennafer Grace. It was an all-black, lace, skin-tight number that required a shaping slip. Got my hair done at Model Call in Hillcrest by stylist Robert Howes. He manages to do what seems like nothing to my hair, and magically transforms it into fabulous. I asked my friend Sheila Nellis to do my makeup. Sheila works at the Neiman Marcus and Nordstorm stores as Trish McEvoy’s right-hand woman. She made me look ten years younger.
I did have a minor wardrobe malfunction that was promptly and efficiently repaired by the alteration fairies who work at Neiman Marcus. If you've ever wondered why people spend so much money at that store, it’s because of the ladies and men in this department.
The show went off without a hitch and people came out in great numbers.
Kicked off my night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion watching the big basketball game between Lincoln and Hoover High Schools. If you’re curious what you should wear to such an event, I recommend flying low key, with jeans, flat boots, and a warm sweater. What a blast watching sophomore boys dunk. They also did the “Duggie” in the huddle. Lincoln won by over 25 points.
Drove out to the Del Mar Fairgrounds to Gem show. Saw an array of beautiful Indian jewelry, diamonds, and beads in every shape and size all for wholesale prices….I treated myself. See Ahmad Fred of All Star Gem in San Marcos.
Stopped in to the all-new Suite 120--an art, clothing, and lifestyle boutique soon to open in Little Italy on Fir Street. They were launching the new line of Salt eyewear. Seriously some of the best looking glasses you’ll find. Beautifully designed and all polarized. A must-have for summer.
Went to see the movie Adjustment Bureau. I won’t tell you anything except that it was amazing.
All quiet. Except the brand new boutique I discovered...shhhhh. Read all about it this week.
So...what fun and fashionable things did you do this past weekend, and what’s on tap for next?
