Our 15 minutes with Housewife of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak

Living large in front of the cameras.

I caught up with the hot-mess housewife of Atlanta, Kim Zolciak last night at the new club/restaurant, Eden in Hillcrest, there to perform her new hits “Don’t Be Tardy For The Party” and “The Ring Didn’t Mean a Thing”.

Having just flown in from Atlanta with a bad head-cold, and a grumpy sycophant assistant named “Sweetie”, Zolciak is five months pregnant with Kroy Biermnan’s baby, and none too pleased about doing a sound check at 8pm and a performance at midnight--But, them’s the breaks when you’ve got appearances to do, two kids to feed, and live by the creed “Fame over Family".

If you’ve never seen the The Real Housewives of Atlanta, then the name Kim Zolciak won’t mean much to you. She’s the lone white girl on the show. The rest of the cast is African-American.

With three more episodes of the show still to air, and a double-dose of the Reunion show, Zolciak says, “Everybody plays a character on the show. How can you really know someone when all you see is 10 minutes in 3 months?”

After much drama, and an on-again, off-again friendship, it was co-cast member, NeNe Leakes who brought Zolciak in to film the pilot with her. She was a hit, and the rest as they say is reality show big bucks.

In four seasons, viewers have learned that Zolciak has a boyfriend named “Big Poppa”, whom she was dating and living with while he was still married. Though Zolciak says that they had a “Real and full-on relationship. His wife was living in LA, and he was living in Atlanta. He was involved with my children’s lives and school functions. It was the show that helped to end our relationship.” One can’t help but think that once Zolciak started making her own money through the show, she no longer needed a “Big Poppa” to support her.

It was Zolciak’s relationship with a woman, DJ Tracy Young, that put her on the map with the gay community and they embraced her and her “singing career”, (Zolciak sings to a very auto-tuned version of her own voice).

Known for her blond wigs, big tatas, Christian Louboutin shoes (which Kim says are the most un-comfortable shoes ever made), and her mediocre voice, like many of the women of reality TV, she’s taking what God gave her, and the Bravo network pays her all the way to the bank.

Zolciak has her own wig line, will be launching her own jewelry line, and is currently working on a book entitled “How To Land Your Own Big Poppa”.

When asked whether she’d do another season…A resounding “Yes.
I get paid a lot to just to live my life. Who would turn that down,” Zolciak asks.

Will the fifteen minutes never end?
