Dinner with Cookie Dutch, Craft Beer + Bites, and Outstanding in the Field
May 22: Dinner with Cookie Dutch
Dinner with Cookie Dutch
WHEN: May 22, 7 p.m.
WHERE: Rustic Root, 535 Fifth Ave., Downtown
Cookie Dutch, aside from having a fantastic name that all but guarantees stardom, is just 14 years old. But the Coronado resident can cook, as the judges and her competitors on Food Network’s Chopped Junior discovered. Dutch won the national TV cooking competition, netting a cool $10,000. For this guest chef dinner, she’ll partner with Rustic Root’s exec chef Marcel Childress for a three-course menu including poblano gazpacho, a trio of tacos, and a tequila chocolate mousse. Go support the young talent.
Craft Beer + Bites
WHEN: June 3, 5-9 p.m.
WHERE: SILO in Maker’s Quarter, 753 15th Street, Downtown
SILO in Maker’s Quarter is a cool space. Really, a dirt lot in Downtown has no right being as arty and cool as it is. And for this event, they’re pulling in 20 local craft breweries, from biggies like Alesmith, Coronado, Karl Strauss, Modern Times, Mission and Stone to the smaller guys like Groundswell, 2Kids Brewing Company, Thorn Street and Societe. Food trucks will also be on hand to provide bites, there’ll be games, vendors and live music.
Outstanding in the Field
WHEN: June 12, 4 p.m.
WHERE: Temecula Olive Oil Company, 46780 Hwy 371, Aguanga (Temecula)
Outstanding in the Field is a pretty inspired series of dinners. It’s like a pop-up dinner, except it pops up not in a warehouse or an abandoned building… but among the fields and farms and ranches that connects the diners to the beauty and process of food. For this one, chef Brian Redzikowski (Kettner Exchange) will cook among the olive trees at Temecula Olive Oil Company with company owners Thom and Catherine in attendance to share their story.
