Anthony Bourdain is raving about its street tacos. Washington Post is critiquing its wines. Baja is one of the hottest food and wine zones on the planet right now. From Oct. 29 through Nov. 2, the region’s top chefs and purveyors will gather to show why over a series of dinners, tours and culinary competitions at the “Baja Culinary Fest.” Chefs include Javier Plascencia (Mision 19), Miguel Angel Guerrero (La Querencia), Roberto Alcocer (Malva), Ryan Steyn, Benito y Solange (Manzanilla), Diego Hernandez-Baquedano (Corazon de Tierra) and others. This year it will take place in Tijuana, Valle de Guadalupe and Ensenada. It’s time. Go back to Baja.

WHEN: Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m.

COST: $50

MORE INFO

Like knives and arrest records, every chef has a tattoo. This dinner is a celebration of the art on their epidermis. It’s also a bunch of good chefs cooking a five-course meal. Jeremiah Bryant (Saltbox), Johnny Duran (Prepkitchen), Jarle Saupstad (Table No. 10), Elliott Townend (The Pearl) and Rose Peyron (Counterpoint) will each create a dish inspired by the irremovable Gauguin on their person—paired with a beer, wine or cocktail of their choosing. The dinner is limited to 30 people.

Taste of Mission Hills

Old Town Trolley shuttles will take participants to and fro (since a few of the venues are down the hill), running a continuous loop until 9:30PM.
