Vegan-friendly Native Foods Cafe starting expansion through San Diego

By Troy Johnson

Native Foods Café is making international headlines right now, thanks to Beyonce, who showed up to the vegan-friendly restaurant wearing a real, fur-lined jacket, making everyone’s “what not to wear to a vegan restaurant” lists for the year. The Chicago-based chain opened their first outpost in Encinitas, a nice-abs part of the city perfect for their curry bowls and quinoa salads. And now they’re striking further south. We’ve confirmed two new locations—one in Clairemont (5620 Balboa Ave., a former Panera) and another in Point Loma (specific location not yet solidified, but not in Liberty Station). They have plans for even more locations throughout the next year, putting them right with Tender Greens at the top of the healthy-casual movement in San Diego.
