Seacrest Vintage 2017 Raises $550,000

Seacrest Foundation held the 39th Annual Women’s Auxiliary Gala, Seacrest Vintage 2017. The event was held on Feb. 25 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla Aventine. The $550,000 raised will support the Seacrest Village Retirement Communities’ Resident Assistance Fund, which provides charitable care for those residents who are most in need. Vivian and Jeffrey Ressler underwrote The wine tasting and cocktail reception. Other underwriters included One America, Butterbrodt Design, HPSI Purchasing Services and Jewish Community Foundation of San Diego.

The 25th Annual Fostering Hope Golf Classic benefitting Voices for Children is being held on Mar. 26-27 at a private golf club in La Jolla. The two-day event is being presented by Dowling and Yahnke Wealth Management. The event begins with a cocktail party on the 26th hosted by Holly and Dave Bruce followed by the 18-hole tournament and awards ceremony on the 27th. All proceeds will benefit Voices for Children CASA program.

Little Italy Association and USO San Diego host reception

The Little Italy Association and USO San Diego hosted a reception to honor 50 international wounded warriors from four allied countries on Mar. 6 at Piazza Basilone in Little Italy. Following the reception the wounded warriors were hosted for lunch at Café Zucchero, Filippi’s Pizza Grotto, Mimmo’s Italina Village and Mona Lisa.

Wells Fargo Housing Foundation donated $22,500 to San Diego Habitat for Humanity and 80 employees from Wells Fargo volunteered their time to help the community of Logan Heights. They built playhouses for the Head Start Program and performed repair work on the Bread & Salt building home to a gallery and experimental art center as well as Via International which integrates community development initiatives with education and volunteerism to build leadership and self reliance in underserved communities.

2017 Mitzvah Honorees

Jewish Family Service announced the 2017 Mitzvah Honorees being recognized at its annual Heart & Soul Gala to be held on Apr. 1 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine. The honorees are Edward Carnot and Louis Vener, Barbara and Mathew Loonin, and the National Charity League – San Dieguito Chapter. They are all be recognized for the contributions they have made to the community and to the JFS Hand Up Youth Food Pantry which enables JFS to provide food to people in need.

Carrie Ann Inaba and Balonee

Animal Advocate and TV star Carrie Ann Inaba was presented the 2017 Helen Woodward Humane Award on Mar. 4. CEO Mike Arms presented the award to Inaba. The Dancing with the Stars judge’s efforts in the world of animal welfare can be seen in the work of her own organization. Inaba accepted the award at a private ceremony at the home of one of Helen Woodward’s dedicated supporters.

Samsung International, Inc. has begun donating smart TV’s to South County schools in need as part of their 5-year commitment with South County Economic Development Council. “It’s been a highly-anticipated moment since the beginning of SCEDC’s partnership with Samsung, and I know it will have a tremendous impact on the academic development of students and the preparation of the future work force in South County,” said Norma Hernandez, vice Chair of SCEDC.

Aces for Health

Champions for Health, an affiliate with the San Diego County Medical Society is holdings its fifth annual Aces for Health on Mar. 27 at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. Proceeds will benefit Project Access San Diego, the flagship program of Champions for Health.
