Girl Scouts Raise $385,000 At Urban Campout

Girl Scouts San Diego’s Urban Campout: Island Treasures, raised $385,000. A portion of the proceeds from the 18th annual event has been earmarked for construction of a new cabin at Girl Scouts’ Balboa Campus, where Urban Campout was held. Qualcomm was the 2015 Silver Sponsor. Event underwriters included Mission Federal Credit Union, Cubic, Dori and Andy Gallagher, Blankinship & Foster and Nadine and Carlo Daleo.

The 12th annual Wine D’Vine was held on Oct. 1 at Pamplemousse Grille. The event chaired by Jaye Connolly-La Belle, COO of RippleNami, raised $125,000 to support foster children and families. Former foster youth Melina Avila spoke about her experience in the foster care system.

AJW Facilities and Construction, Lindsay & Brownell and Mary Ann & Harley Sefton were sponsors. Teresa Stivers, Executive Director of Walden, announced the 40th Anniversary Wine D’Vine will be held on Oct. 27, 2016 and will honor Mary Anne & Harley Sefton.

Tri-City Hospital Foundation’s 35th Anniversary Celebration

Tri-City Hospital Foundation’s 35th Anniversary Celebration

Tri-City Hospital Foundation’s 35th anniversary celebration – Baile de Esperanza – is being held on Nov. 7 at the Park Hyatt Aviara. Proceeds raised will benefit the expansion and renovation of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Labor and Delivery Department at Tri-City Medical Center. “Esperanza’ means ‘hope,’ and that’s the perfect sentiment for this year’s event,” said Glen Newhart, President of Tri-City Hospital Foundation.

The 33rd annual Pro-Am Golf Classic was held on Sept. 25 at Sycuan Resort. Sponsors included The Kerr Family Foundation, The Verbeck Foundation and The Carlson Family.  Other sponsors included Chris & Karen Hinman, Sycuan Casino, Quick Dry Flood Services, Torrey Pines Bank, Hanken Cono Assad & Co and California Bank & Trust. The $54,500 raised goes toward the programs and services furnished by Home of Guiding Hands.

The 12th annual Walk Now For Autism Speaks raised $102,000 at the walk held on Sept. 26 at Liberty Station. The goal is to raise a total of $147,000 by the end of the year.The walk was hosted by Autism Speaks. Participants included community partners Microsoft, Home Depot, FedEx Ground San Diego, 501st Legion and CSU San Marcos Chapter Alpha XI Delta. Sponsors included Butterfly Effects ABA Therapy and We Rock The Spectrum Kids Gym.

Volunteers of America Southwest held its 16th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic on Sept. 14 at the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. A total of $68,567 was raised to benefit education and development for young children, as well as programs serving veterans and their families.  Title Sponsors were MediExcel Health Plan and Sysco San Diego and Eagle Sponsors were California Bank & Trust, BB&T Insurance Services, Blanchard, Krasner & French and AUSGAR Technologies.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County is hosting its 53rd Annual Gourmet Dinner on Oct. 29 at the Hyatt Regency at La Jolla Aventine. Co-title sponsors are PIRCH and NRG and Schubach Aviation and Montesquieu Winery are supporting sponsors. Spotlight honoree includes the 2015 Person of the Year, Dr. Peter Farrell, Founder & Chairman of ResMed.

The 6th Annual ROMP Gala

The 6th Annual ROMP Gala held on Oct. 3 raised $525,000 to support San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. The event was held at Estancia La Jolla and featured musical entertainment by David Cook. Hoehn Motors Carlsbad donated a 2016 Porsche Cayman or $50,000 cash and was won by George Serlovsky. “This annual event offers new opportunities for us to meet the needs of 14,000 family members who rely on us each year, including daytime guests and overnight guests staying for weeks at a time as they face long-term medical challenges,” said Chuck Day, president and CEO of RMDHCSD.
