Southern Caregiver Resource Center hosted its 21st Annual Bastille Day Celebration and fundraiser on July 13 at the Rancho Santa Fe Clubhouse and featured live music, exquisite wines and food from The French Gourmet. In all, the event raised more than $92,000 to benefit family caregivers in San Diego County. 10 News anchors Kimberly Hunt and Steve Atkinson emceed, and County Supervisor Dave Roberts was also on-site to support the cause.

The San Diego Padres hosted a special pregame ceremony on Aug. 20 to kick off a season of salutes. More than 100 uniformed officers from eight first responder agencies including Border Patrol, California Highway Patrol, FBI and San Diego Police were recognized. The Padres Foundation, in partnership with Qualcomm, presented a financial contribution to organizations that support spouses and children of fallen officers.

St. Madeleine Sophie’sCenter held its 36th Haute with Heart Fashion Show on Aug. 17 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Sponsors included Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, Barona Resort & Casino, Sycuan Casino and SDG&E. Joan Eichen, the special honoree, donated $36,000 in honor of the 26th annual Fashion Show.

St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services is holding its annual LUV Gala on Sept. 7 at the Paradise Point Resort. This year’s gala pays tribute to those who serve our nation, highlighting the musical South Pacific. Mitzi Gaynor, star of the film South Pacific is scheduled for a special appearance.  All proceeds benefit the St. Paul’s Memory Care Program which provides individualized approach to care and living for senior residents experiencing different stages of dementia.

Torrey Pines Bank is again supporting SAY San Diego for its back to School Drive.  The bank is happy to report that its employees collected almost double the units (12,865) this year over last year to give San Diego’s children backpacks filled with all the supplies they need to succeed this school year. SAY’s mission is to be a leader and a partner in the provision of accessible, quality services effectively planned and implemented to strengthen the social and emotional well being of San Diego’s children, families and communities.

“Days of Joy!” a reception celebrating Latinas & Friends is being held on Sept.4 at home in Rancho Santa Fe. The event is sponsored by Andrew Morgan Furniture to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego.

Sparkles & Spurs Urban Campout 2013 will be held on Sept. 6 at Girl Scouts’ Balboa Park Campus. Wells Fargo is the Presenting Sponsor, Qualcomm is the Sliver Sponsor and Union Bank is the Bronze Sponsor. Other sponsors include Chevron, Barbara & David Groce, Sycuan Casino and Geico. Proceeds help provide opportunities in science, technology, health/wellness, arts/culture, career exploration, camps and travel for local girls.

The Kerr Family Foundation, in honor of Eleanor Donovan, sponsored the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of San Diego kickoff breakfast held on Aug. 21 at the Town & Country Resort in Mission Valley. The walk is scheduled to take place on Oct. 20 at Balboa Park. All proceeds go toward breast cancer research.
